The Dairy Council of Utah Nevada is a proud supporter of Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK). It is the only nonprofit organization formed specifically to address the epidemic of overweight, undernourished and sedentary youth by focusing on changes at school. AFHK is in all 50 states and the District of Columbia working to improve children's nutrition and increase physical activity, which will in turn improve their readiness to learn. Utah’s School Wellness Policies: Where Do they Stand?
June 2004 the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act was signed into law, making it mandatory for all local education agencies participating in federal school meal programs to create a local wellness policy by July 2006. On September 27, 2006, the Utah Action for Healthy Kids team hosted an awards ceremony to honor the top five school district wellness policies. In preparation, the team compiled information that helps to answer the question "How are Utah Schools Doing with Wellness Policies." If you are interested in learning more, read letter to the Superintendent.

Introducing New Nutrition Education Programs for 2nd and 4th Grade Teachers
Teach your students the importance of good nutrition with Dairy Council's new nutrition education programs, available beginning fall 2005. Each program teaches all five food groups and includes 8-10 student activities, plus a Teacher's Guide and reproducible black line masters, as well as four fun interactive games that reinforce classroom learning. Both teacher-tested Nutrition Expedition programs are designed to support health and language arts curricula.
Arianna's Nutrition Expedition™
Students will enjoy arm-chair traveling with the two heroes of Arianna's Nutrition Expedition™ - Arianna Bones and Marcus Muscleman. Whether they're solving a mystery or trekking to Antarctica, these two adventurous 4th graders put pizzazz into learning about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity.
Little D's Nutrition Expedition™
Little D's Nutrition Expedition™ transports 2nd grade students back to the time of medieval castles and dragons. Along the way, they'll learn the importance of good nutrition and physical activity from Little D the dragon, Princess Peapod, Queen Anna Banana and other food-group friends.
